Get to Know Me

I am a LCMHC #12003 (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor), NCTTP (National Certified Tobacco Treatment Provider), and 500 hour trained yoga teacher (300 hours with a therapeutic focus). I am trauma informed and have close to 25 years of experience specializing in mental health (including Anxiety and Depression), mind-body wellness, stress management, substance abuse and addictions (including nicotine dependence), body/image/food relationship and self-esteem. I also focus on working with persons experiencing perinatal/postpartum distress. In addition, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) including the FLASH Method. I am Level 1 Trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) (conferred September 14, 2024).

I approach my practice as a partnership between me and my clients. I will help you learn how to give yourself permission to feel, how your physical body experiences emotions and learn how to voice what it is saying. We will work together to uncover the triggers and barriers in your path, learn to recognize them when they appear, and develop solutions to cope with them. 

The counseling experience is an opportunity for expression and growth, one of rediscovering and nurturing the self. My work incorporates a holistic approach to wellness, one in which we seek to not only honor your individual needs and strengths but find acceptance and compassion for the struggling parts. I utilize a trauma informed, strength-based, cognitive-behavior, parts-focused, and mindfulness strategies. Counseling is part of your healing process, but it's not all of it. I will help you identify what aspects of your wellness are missing and how you can find your balance to nurture all of your parts and support your whole self.

 

Your first session will be a general intake with identifying your current goals, discussion of what has worked/hasn't worked in previous counseling and beginning with where you are. Prior to your first session, I offer a free 20-30 minute telephone call to help you see if you feel comfortable working with me. 

I look forward to being present as a witness to your story, and am eager to help you in finding your way out of your  fog and into your whole self.
